Empire State Building VS Top of The Rock Observation Deck

I'm pretty sure that somehow (because of music, movies, etc.) you have listened about this observation decks; specially of course if you are planning your holiday trip to New York City, this two places are a MUST SEE.
Here there is a little list to compare both of this attractions!

Empire State Building

  • Location: Fifth Avenue, NYC
  •  Price: $27.00 USD
  •  View: Downtown Manhattan (1 WTC), Metlife Building, Chrysley Building, New Jersey and The Hudson River.

  • Other: this building has security bars. You can go whenever you want between 8am and 2am (The last elevator goes up at 1.15am) Tickets are valid for a hole year since the day you bough it, you can go whenever you want! (date and time) And it opens every day! 365 days a year! What I love from this building is that every night it has a color of it's lights in honor of someone or something, it's beautiful. One last thing is that with the price I mention you will be able to go to the main deck (86th floor), there's the Top Deck at the 102nd floor but you need to pay extra to go up there. New York Skyline - Empire State Building POV

Top of the Rock (at Rockefeller Center)

  • Location: at the GE Building.

  • Price: $27.00 USD
  • View of: Central Park, Upper East Side, Metlife Building (a little bit of the Chrysley Building), Empire State Building, New Jersey and The Hudson River.
 View of Empire State Building
 View of Central Park

  • Other: Top of the Rock has a security glass, not bars like the Empire State Building. Other thing is that you need to say at what time you are going to go up! Another thing is that you can go to the 2 upper levels that the observation deck has for free! It is open from 8am to midnight (last elevator goes up at 11:00pm) 7 days a week, the timing tho can change on holidays.

I personally love Top of the Rock, it has an AMAZING view, this does not mean that the Empire State Building doesn't have one but, you can watch literally the hole island (hahaha not that much!) but you will be able to see its most iconic buildings (like the ESB).
A tourist guy recommend me to go up at night so I did; it's beautiful and so romantic but I definitely fall in love with the view during the day at least with the view that Top of The Rock "gives" you, it's a beautiful contrast that Central Park provides to the city.
Even so, in both of this observatory decks you will be able to watch an amazing view, it's up to you to chose one of both of them!

Good luck, and have an incredible trip!

Mistura 2013

I don't know if you guys have ever heard about this gastronomic fair; well if no just listen (read!)
"Mistura" is the biggest gastronomic fair in Peru (and apparently the biggest one in Latinamerica), this particular country has develop for a few years by now his food industry, we could say there's a gastronomic "boom" of Peruvian food which is in a really high demand. I had the pleasure to go to this year's edition (from Sept 6th to the 15th) so here are few tips and comments about it and hopefully you will like it and visit it next year! So here we go ...

The Entrance
  • Buy your ticket before - just to safe you some time, they are sold in a well - know supermarket in Lima. It costed between 5.50 (Mon and Tuesday) and 9.50 USD  .
  • Go early - I know I know, this might sound like a cliché but if really want to enjoy the hole fair you will need to go early; also if you don't want to loose time looking for a parking lot (if you go by car) The opening time is at 11:00 am.

 Cupcake "sculpture" made of chocolate
  • Use a comfy outfit -trainers, not very fancy clothes (you will eat and walk a lot! hahaha not really) I went with flats an it finished all covered with dirt! You'd probably don't want to ruin your shoes!
 "Pachamanca" cooked underground
    • Enter and buy the exchange tickets - All the stands of food don't receive cash, you need to change your cash/or pay by credit card for the same amount of money but in tickets. (Places that receive cash: the market and stands where you can buy water and sodas)
    • Make a list of what you want to eat and go for it - This tip probably won't be very helpful for everyone 'cuz maybe you don't know exactly what they offer but take the map and mark your favorite places and go for it; as the time goes by the queues became longer and longer.

Typical food called "Chancho al palo"

Well I think that this tips are the most useful ones! The plates cost are around 6.00 and 3.00 USD (equivalent to 13 nuevos soles, Peruvian currency) so it's a good deal! There are concerts, some shows with the typical music of all the regions of Peru, professional dancer a hole party!
So if you would like to know more about this country: culture, food, music, dance, people, etc. you should totally go next year!
